The new lyric video for our 2019 single Let It Out is here.

When life has knocked you down
And you’re starting again
It’s hard not to wear your scars
When the lines are wearing thin
When the lie
Gets to hard to hide
YOU GOTTA LET IT OUT!
Thank you to Flock of Crows Motion Design for this awesome lyric video.

California: Social Gravy's new single

"This town will make you or break you, don't say I didn't warn you..."
Social Gravy's new single "California"

The Vinyl District wrote about Social Gravy's new single:

“California” is a jangly, yearning slice of pop rock that channels the seminal work of the Eagles, beginning with an intimate vocal and guitar combo that effortlessly expands into a full-blown Oasis-esque chorus. It’s a hook that feels so neatly symmetrical, it’s hard to believe it has not been fashioned before. Read more on The Vinyl District>>>>

Today is June 11. Our album launch party was on April 11. Apparently, it took us two months to get this first video from the event ready--that should tell you that Social Gravy is all about perfection, no matter how long it takes!

In the next few weeks we are to going post more videos of our love show at the Behind Every Yes launch party. Thank you to Nick Maybury on guitar, David Goodstein on drums, Dave Yaden on keyboard, to the amazing back vocals singers Sharlotte Gibson and Carol McArthur for sharing the stage with us that night!

Thank you to Daniel Lir of DolceFilms who made this video. Thank you to No Name who hosted our opening night (though no photo policy was a bummer ;) Thank you to the Social Gravy's friend Carshenah Jefferson who helped us distribute the download cards. Thank you to all of our fans, and friends, and friends of friends who came out to support us and hear our music live. Thank you to all of you who couldn't be there but kept asking about the videos from the event--here you are now. And thank you to those of you who listened, gave feedback and shared our songs. More to come--stay tuned!

Brad & Vee on Making of My Love

My lazy eye will follow you for a mile...--My Love by Social Gravy
Brad: “Vee had some of the riffs... The structure went through a few incarnations. My Love took about 6 months from writing to final master. We recorded the solo live with the band—it was one take, no edits. The final result is deliberately snappy. We wanted it to be charming & vibey, with a live feel. On My Love we are referencing the Black Keys. Thank you to  Phil Simmonds on bass, Jake Hayden on drums, Erik Hammer on electric guitar, Steve Maggiora on Hammond, our engineer Jared Scott, and Candace at the EastWest Studios.”
the way you writhe will keep me coming for more... My Love by Social Gravy
Vee: “The Black Keys was the inspiration behind My Love… Most of the song was hidden in my back drawer, we then brushed it off and updated for a more cool, current sound which was The Black Keys at that moment. Hats off guys! My Love is riffy and energetic. We wanted it to hold attention from start to finish. I like playing it. I think it came well together.

The original version was very much blues oriented which we later turned into a more indie-rock-pop sound with broader audience in mind. First version still sounds cool though in it's own right.”

Social Gravy: recording new music
This is how you make music: Hours and hours of writing, playing, re-writing, recording, mixing, listening, then recording and re-mixing again. Repeat. Repeat again. Our first album, Behind Every Yes, is almost ready. Have we created something worth of your time? We surely hope so. We'll know soon enough. Here is a taste: our first single Stone Cold, written and recorded by Brad Kohn & Vee Bordukov.

Social Gravy Stone Cold
"In Stone Cold, we wanted a kind of indie, lonely, thoughtful and somewhat troubled sound. We think we got it. The vocal is quite distorted and when the track drops it's quite intense."
