​Those pictures on the bedside table smell like my summer. Burnt skin: by hot sand, by your music, by strawberry kisses. Would you wrap up a handful of golden airplanes from the shop window for me, please. And a little bit of hope that I will open my eyes one day and see the ocean again. Welcome. This is my summer. 

On August 8, 1966, The Beatles LP Revolver was released in the United States. 

Huge shoutout to the nineteen-year old Geoff Emerick--his first album as chief engineer for The Beatles--for putting up with their constant requests to create outlandish sounds--the whole world appreciates it! Geoff wrote in his book Here, There and Everywhere about it: "Revolver very rapidly became the album where the Beatles would say, "OK, that sounds great, now let's play [the recording] backwards or speeded up or slowed down." They tried everything backwards, just to see what things sounded like."
